How to export/back up your webmail messages

If you use webmail, it is a good idea to back up your webmail messages periodically. This is especially recommended if you:

  • have many messages and want to remove messages to improve webmail performance
  • are planning to transfer your email services to another account/service
  • want to keep extra copies for safekeeping

The best method is to set up a local email client. Doing so will download all your messages to your local Mac or PC. Here are instructions on how to set up your email to work with several email clients. Note: downloading your messages using a mail client will not back up your address book. If you wish to back up your webmail address book, follow these instructions.
