How the Image Bank Works

Images larger than 800px by 600px can be uploaded but will be placed in a separate "Large Images" group and will not be available in your Photo Gallery. Though the Wizard will also create a smaller version of the image that you can use in the Gallery. For best results, resize your images before you upload them.

Images larger than 3000 pixels are simply too large to upload and you should shrink the image before uploading it.

You'll note that if you upload a large image, you will have two versions of it in the Image Bank:

Your image will be re-sized and stored in the Images Uploaded Already section with _resize added to the name, with your original larger image in the Large Images section at the bottom of the Image Bank. If you do not see the images, you'll want to expand those groups by clicking on the plus icon as shown:

As you can see below, my large cat image is *way* too big to fit into the framework of the wizard.

Though you may want to use a large image if you have a large sized Style Graphic as is used in our Overlay templates.

The image with _resize is the new, smaller version that the Wizard created for you:

Resizing Photos for the Wizard

Now the Wizard, as helpful as it might try to be, is not going to resize your images with the same clarity that you would get with a photo editing tool that was specifically built for that purpose. So I've included links for how to resize images with the most common image software:

Recommended Sizes

If you are planning on putting a photo directly onto a page other than the photogallery (such as Bio, News, Home, etc)remember that most content areas on the wizard are between 400-500px wide. The Photo Gallery can accommodate photos no larger than 800px x 600px. If you are uploading a photo for your Style Graphic you should get it as close to the suggested size as possible. The suggested size for your Style Graphics will be in your Style Graphic area in the Wizard.
